Chrome extension

See eSIM prices for your destination while you book flights

AeroCell spots where you are flying on Google Flights and shows the eSIM plans that fit the trip: data, validity, network and price. It asks before it shows anything and never collects your browsing history.

Add to Chrome, it’s free No account needed · Works in Chrome, Edge and Brave

    How it works

    1. 1

      Search for flights as usual

Open Google Flights and search, for example London to Tokyo. The page stays exactly as it is: AeroCell never adds banners or pop-ups to it.

    2. 2

      See the badge

When AeroCell recognises the destination, its toolbar icon shows a small country badge such as “JP”. Nothing else happens until you click it.

    3. 3

      Confirm the country

Click the icon and AeroCell asks “Travelling to Japan?”. If it guessed wrong, tap “Not the right country?” and search any country, city or airport code.

    4. 4

      Compare three plans

You see the plan that fits your trip dates, the most popular plan, the best value and the cheapest, each with data, validity, network and price.

    5. 5

Buy on aerocell.app or your phone

“View plan” opens the destination page on aerocell.app to check out. “Continue on phone” shows a QR code so you can buy and install the eSIM on the phone you will travel with.

    Supported websites

    • Google Flights (search and Explore pages)
    • Any page: click the icon and search a country, city or airport code

Skyscanner, Booking.com, Airbnb and airline sites are planned once Google Flights proves useful.

    How detection works

AeroCell reads only the page address and title, for example “London to Tokyo | Google Flights”, and the airport codes and dates Google puts in the address. It matches the city or airport to a country using an airport list bundled inside the extension, so nothing is looked up online. When signals disagree it lowers its confidence, and it always asks you to confirm before showing plans.

How we choose the plans you see

We never call a plan “best” without saying what that means. Each label has one rule:

    Fits your trip
The cheapest plan whose validity covers every day between your outbound and return dates.
    Most popular
The plan AeroCell travellers bought most for that country in the last 90 days. Shown only when there is enough sales data.
    Best value
The lowest price per GB among plans that last for your whole trip.
    Cheapest
The lowest total price, whatever the allowance.
    Most data
The largest data allowance available for that country.

Prices are fetched live from AeroCell in US dollars and are the same as on the website.

    Privacy and permissions

The extension has one purpose: show AeroCell eSIM plans for the country you are travelling to. Here is everything it asks for and why.

    storage
Saves your settings and a random anonymous ID on your computer.
    activeTab
Lets the popup read the address and title of the tab you are on, only at the moment you click the AeroCell icon.
    Google Flights access (optional)
Only if you switch it on. Lets AeroCell read the address and title of Google Flights pages so it can show the country badge. Chrome describes this as “read and change your data on www.google.com”; AeroCell never changes pages, injects scripts or reads other Google pages.

Never requested: Browsing history, Access to all websites, Email, Clipboard, Location.

    What data is collected

    • Stays on your computer: the pages you visit, the destination detected, your trip dates and your settings.
    • Sent to AeroCell when you look up plans: the two-letter country code and, if detected, your trip dates, to work out which plan fits. They are not linked to your usage ID. As with any web request, your IP address reaches our servers; it is not stored with extension events.
    • Anonymous usage stats (you can switch these off): the event name (such as “plan viewed”), the site (such as “google-flights”), the country code and the extension version, linked to a random ID created on install. Never URLs, searches, dates, names, emails or booking details.
    • Attribution: links to aerocell.app carry standard UTM tags (utm_source=chrome_extension) so we can tell that a visit came from the extension.

    Retention, deletion and sharing

    • Usage events are deleted automatically after 13 months.
    • “Delete my usage data” in the extension settings removes every event linked to your ID immediately and creates a new ID. Uninstalling removes all local data.
    • We do not sell or share extension data, do not use it for advertising and do not use it to work out creditworthiness. It is used only to improve the extension.
    • Purchases on aerocell.app follow the main AeroCell privacy policy.

For travel bloggers: embed live eSIM prices

Add a small card with the current AeroCell price for any country to your destination guides. Change JP to any two-letter country code. Prices update automatically, the widget sets no cookies, and the plain link inside it is what readers and search engines see if JavaScript is off.

    <div data-aerocell-country="JP">
      <a href="https://aerocell.app/plans/japan">Japan eSIM prices on AeroCell</a>
    </div>
    <script async src="https://aerocell.app/widget.js"></script>

Add data-aerocell-theme="dark" for dark sites. Want commission on sales? Ask about our partner programme at [email protected].

    FAQ

Is the AeroCell Chrome extension free?

Yes. The extension is free and needs no account. You only pay if you choose to buy an eSIM plan on aerocell.app.

Which travel websites does it support?

Google Flights for now. We will add sites such as Skyscanner, Booking.com and Airbnb once we know the extension is genuinely useful. On any other page you can click the icon and search for a country.

Does the extension track my browsing?

No. It never sees your browsing history and only looks at the address and title of travel sites you enable. URLs, searches, dates and booking details never leave your browser.

Can I buy an eSIM inside the extension?

No. Payment always happens on aerocell.app, the same checkout as the website and app, so the extension never handles card details or your account.

What if it shows the wrong country?

AeroCell always asks you to confirm before showing plans. Tap “Not the right country?” and search for the right one. If a page is unclear, it shows nothing rather than guessing.

    Which currency are prices in?

US dollars, the currency AeroCell checkout charges. Prices come live from AeroCell and are never stored in the extension.

How do I delete my data?

Open the extension settings and choose “Delete my usage data”. This deletes the anonymous events linked to your ID from our servers and gives the extension a new random ID. Uninstalling the extension removes everything stored on your computer.
